Dances With Wolves (1990)

A brief review on this epic film starring and directed by Kevin Costner, who for me has a fairly hit and miss career; Dances With Wolves however hits the nail on the head.

A brilliant story, luscious cinematography, great characters and a sweeping score combine to create a truly epic tale of one soldier’s adventures in the wilderness that was the American frontier during the Civil War.

It picked up the Best Picture award at the Oscars and it is easy to see why, the long run-time flies by as you are engrossed completely. The sudden realisation that occurs when you work out what the film title ‘Dances With Wolves’ signifies was satisfying enough to make this an unforgettable film, add in all the other Sioux magic and you have a near-perfect film.

Kevin Costner, I forgive you for The Bodyguard (almost)…
